J'ai toujours adoré les Green Lanterns ! Ce corps de police intergalactique dont chaque membre se voit attribuer un secteur de l'univers, ainsi qu'un anneau capable de matérialiser sous forme de constructions la volonté de son porteur. Le corps des Green Lantern protège donc les galaxies de toutes sortes de menaces, mais il peut aussi accomplir des missions de routine, comme le sauvetage d'un vaisseau en perdition :)

Bon, pour être honnête, un seul voire deux Green Lanterns auraient suffi pour ce genre de mission, mais pourquoi ne dessiner qu'un Lantern quand on peut en dessiner plusieurs ? :) )

J'ai représenté ici une partie des plus connus. De gauche à droite et de haut en bas : Kilowog, Guy Gardner, Tomar Re, John Stewart, Hal Jordan, Laira Otomo, Gallus Zed, Arisia Raab. Si vous avez de bons yeux, vous reconnaîtrez peut être aussi Salaak, Ch'p, Apros et Kyle Rayner en arrière plan...

Techniquement, rien de particulier : les règles de composition habituelles pour le placement des éléments et des personnages, et une perspective à un point de fuite pour le vaisseau. Je rajouterai probablement encore quelques détails lors de la phase de l'encrage :)

I always loved the Green Lanterns ! This intergalactic police corps each member of which is in charge of a sector of the universe, and is given a ring able to materialize as constructions the will of its holder. So the Green Lantern Corps protect the galaxies against all sort of threats, but it can also accomplish more routine mission, like helping a spaceship in distress :)

To be honest, only one Green Lanterns or maybe two are sufficient to deal with this kind of mission, but why just draw one Green Lantern when you can draw several ones ? :) )

Here I have represented the most known of them. From left to right and up to down : Kilowog, Guy Gardner, Tomar Re, John Stewart, Hal Jordan, Laira Otomo, Gallus Zed, Arisia Raab. If you have good eyes, you'll recognize perhaps Salaak, Ch'p, Apros, and Kyle Rayner in background...

Technically, nothing special : the usual basis for composition to put all the elements and characters on, and a simple one point perspective for the spaceship. I'll probably add a few details during the inking process :)

Green Lantern Hal Jordan, black & white

A thing I especcially appreciate in holyday time, is that I can deal with all the things that were not finished :) Like this Hal Jordan, as an example, which was pencilled in summer :) Will I put him on a space pic background as usual, or will I draw a scenery with a mad perspective, especcially for him.... ? Hmmmm..... ^^

By the way, I still don't know what I will do for the traditional "Happy New Year" drawing ! (: o

Une chose que j'apprécie tout particulièrement pendant les vacances, c'est que je peux finir les trucs qui étaient en attente :) Comme cet Hal Jordan, par exemple, qui avait été crayonné cet été :) Vais-je le poser sur une photo spatiale comme je le fais d'habitude, ou vais-je dessiner un décor avec une perspective de folie, exprès pour lui ? ^^ Hmmmm..... ^^

Au fait, je ne sais toujours pas encore ce que je ferai pour le traditionnel dessin de "Bonne Année !" (: o

Voici donc mon poster hommage au Corps des Green Lanterns ! Green Lantern est une bande dessinée que j'apprécie beaucoup, car elle défend l'idée selon laquelle la volonté permet de dépasser la peur et d'accomplir des miracles. Je trouve que c'est une belle leçon de vie.

J'ai essayé de représenter les Green Lanterns les plus connus, à savoir Hal Jordan au premier plan, puis John Stewart, Kilowog, Kyle Rayner, et un peu plus loin sur la droite, Guy Gardner. J'ai ensuite rajouté quelques GL extraterrestres, soit parmi ceux que j'ai pu rencontrer en lisant la série, soit en inventant moi-même des personnages. Il faut dire qu'il existe une multitude de GL de toutes origines et de toutes formes, puisque le Corps protège la totalité de l'Univers. ça fait donc beaucoup de monde, et tous ne sont pas humanoïdes comme dans mon dessin !

La cité a été dessinée à partir d'une perspective à trois points, ou plus précisément d'une grille. J'ai souhaité m'inspirer des travaux de M. Moëbius pour donner à la cité un aspect "science-fiction", tout en me détachant des codes de la série. Par exemple, je n'ai pas utilisé les mêmes couleurs pour colorier Oa. Je trouvais en effet un peu dommage de mettre du vert ou du noir de partout ! De la même façon, la lumière des anneaux n'est pas tout à fait la même que celle de la bande dessinée.

J'ai veillé à séparer chaque personnage des autres afin d'éviter les interférences, et d'obtenir une composition bien nette. J'ai également joué sur le contraste entre un arrière-plan clair, et un premier plan un peu plus sombre. L'utilisation de couleurs plus sombres au premier plan permettant de "solidifier" le bas de la page. De le rendre plus "existant". Enfin, j'ai fait en sorte de bien détacher les personnages en noircissant les parties sombres de leur uniforme.

Utiliser le format raisin (50 x 65 cms) m'a permis de travailler plus confortablement !

Here is my tribute poster to the Green Lantern Corps ! Green Lantern is a comic I appreciate a lot because it defends the idea that the will permits to defeat the fear, and permits the accomplishments of miracles. It's a nice lesson I guess.

I tried to represent the most known Green Lanterns : Hal Jordan on the foreground, then John Stewart, Kilowog, Kyle Rayner, and a little further on the right, Guy Gardner. Afterthat, I've added some alien lanterns, some I have met during my reading of the comic, some other of my invention. The fact is the Green Lantern Corps protects the whole universe, so It's composed of a huge number of GL, of all origins and figures. And a lot of them aren't humanoïds, like they are in my drawing !

The city is based on a three points perspective grid. I inspired myself from Mr Jean "Moebius" Giraud' works to render a "sci-fi" look alike city, but at the same time, I wanted to turn myself away from the serie's codes. For example, I haven't used the serie's colors for Oa. I thought it was a shame to put some green everywhere. The rings' lights are not exactly the one you can see in the comic.

I paid attention to separate the characters, to avoid cross lines and interferences, and to obtain a clear composition. I played with the contrast between a clear background and a lightly darker foreground. I used some darker colors on the foreground to make the bottom of the page more "solid", more "existing". I made the characters pop up by blackening the dark parts of their uniforms.

At last, the use of the 19,68 x 25,59 size helped me to practice with comfort !

Hal Jordan is the most known by the public Green Lantern. He was an aviator before becoming a super hero. This is the reason why he likes so much to perform loops, and he can date whoever girl he wants. Now he's the property of DC Comics, so his life is under copyright ! (: o

At least, he's handsome, brights in the night, and doesn't need any electric torch when he has lost his keys ! (: o

C'est la raison pour laquelle il aime faire des loopings, et qu'il a beaucoup de succès avec les filles. Maintenant, il est la propriété de DC Comics, du coup sa vie est sous copyright ! (: o

Au moins, il a l'avantage d'être tout beau et de briller dans la nuit, et il n'a pas besoin de torche électrique quand il a perdu ses clefs ! (: o

For the colored version, I'll add some hand drawn planets or asteroïds, and I'll put a space pic as a background. This mix between hand made and digital work could give something nice ! :) )

Another idea would be to paint the space with black gouache and to add the stars with white one. And a white halo around the character to do the things right !

Pour la version couleur, je rajouterai des planètes et des astéroïdes dessinés à la main, et je placerai un fond de photographies spatiales. Ce mélange entre travail accompli à la main et travail digital pourrait donner un truc sympa ! :) )

Une autre idée serait de peindre l'espace à la gouache noire, et d'ajouter les étoiles à la gouache blanche. Avec un halo de blanc autour du personnage pour faire les choses comme il faut !

A green light.... part I

I'm not sure it's good for the business to show this kind of unfinished doodled stuff. It's full of mistakes and wrong things, but I don't care, a blog is also a mean to have fun, and I just wanted to share with you this last inspiration ! :) ) It was a little study for a new Superman, but seing the posture, I suddenly thought to Green Lantern, a character we don't know a lot in France, and a hero I never have drawn till today.

Hey, you know what ? Despite all my efforts to draw other things, it seems my Disease Continues ! lol.....

I had some personal problems those last days : ( and I lose momentum. I don't feel really good, but I decided to react. I'm a man, not a boy ! Today, I worked well, I mean, at least, I worked a lot ! It's good to be back, to stand alive, and to say a big F... to the problems ! : P
